“The Owls Are Not As They Seem”

Today, on our explorations, we were so honored to be able to listen and observe a young Barred Owl call to its mother. We were then able to watch the mother check us out with her beautiful head tilting and turning and the sun streaming through the trees and through her great wing span as she flew. We stayed for a very long time. Hannah said, “I can’t believe this is happening to us.” I couldn’t agree more.

On our way back to school, we ran into a Park Steward and he told us more about the owls and that his daughter calls the area we have been referring to as “the Owl Clearing”, “The Owl Tower”. He also told us what we can do to help and every time we go into the park, we will be pulling Ivy and clearing trails.

We’ve got the animal magic!
